PRESoNT ~ Walter A~ Madseny Mayor Frank McCoy, Jr., Vice Mayor J~ Allison Banks, Councilman Charles N. Boos, Cotuncilman Gilbert Collins; Councilman F. T. Kain, City Manager Tereesa Padgett, City Clerk Gene Moore, City Attorney Th~ meeting was called to order by Mayor Madsen at 7:30 P.M. Recognition of the School Patro~ Mr. Kain noted that the School Safety Patrol Award has been memorialized in the name of the late Dick Johnson. Sgt. Gatlin made the presentation of certificates to a repre- sentative for the students from the following elementary schools who have participated in this program: Boynton Elementary Schools Mr. Weedy Rolling Green Ridge School; Mr. Robert Miller, Poinciana School; Mr. Marshy Forest Park Elementary and Mr. Joseph Kopely St. Mark's School. Mr. Ka. in said a program has been set for ll A.M. Saturday morning for these students. Resolution To the County Commission in reference to the ~owntown Dark Mr. Moore noted that this is a resolution to clear title to the down~own park discussed for dedication and that title is now vested in Palm Beach County. The resolution is request- ing a deed of conveyance for use by the City of Boynton Beach. Mr. Moore read Resolution 66-BB. Mr. McCcy moved for adoption of Resolution 66-BB. Mr. Banks seconded and was unanimously carried. it Personnel Matters Mr. Kain noted that under Civil Service Rules~ Article 3, Section 5 Amended~ that the appointmenn of a Public Works Director shall be made by Council upon recommendation of the City Manager. Mr. Kain stated that he has interviewed the ~op three candidates and recommends Mr. Lewie S. Hunter for this position. -I- MINUTES Special Meeting of City June l, 1966 Council Mr. Kain stated that he will review department budgets when he returns from vacation and expects to have the budget ready the first part of August for review by Council. Mr~ Kain noted that he expects $~ to $~ million more on the tax roll this year. Mr. Boos noted a memo from Mr. Carnahan dated May 16 recom- mending procurement Of ei§ht~different items and stated that if it is possible to get four of these items, it should be done without Belay. Mr. Kain explained that he has ssked Mr. Carnshan to Eet specifications on purchasing to see what can be handied this year, that he would like to purchase items thet would be most readily usable~ ~Mr. Kain stated that he would make a recommendation to council at such time as more information is available. Mr. Bill Edetl came forward and invited members of the Council to attend the program "Sing Out Florida '66" at the Boynton Junior High School, Saturday~ June 4, at 7:30 PM. Conference meeting with representatives of Russell & Axon to discuss balance of the sanitary sewer pro,ram There was a discussion with Col. Neff of Russell & Axon on the next areas to be sewered. Mr. Banks moved to go out for bids on sections 5, 5B, and 2BB as outlined on the Preliminary Report on Sewage Works Project prepared by Russell & Axon dated September, 1965. Mr. McCoy seconded and it wes unanimously carried. Mr. Banks asked Mr. Kain to send a wire to George Russetl~ Jr. signed by the Mayor and City Clerk expressing regrets end sympathy of the City Council upon the passing of his father Mr. George Russell, Sr. Attest · ~erk Meeting adjourned at 9:oo Walter A.
