Charles Woods, Christian Missionary _Alliance Church gave the Invocation and Flag Salute was led by Vice Mayor Banks. l{epresentatives from civic clubs were recognized by Mayor Archie as follows: Col. Dolsey and Mr. Hust~a, Lions Club; Blanche Lockridge, Soroptimist Club and Pete Weeks, Jaycees. Mr. Mahoney moved *~at the Minutes of l{egular Meeting, September 16 and Special 1Vieeting, September 24th be approved, seconded by Mr. Summers and unanimously carried. Air. Mahoney moved that the request of the Soroptimist Club for $100. donation for advertising City Boynton Beach at their National Convention, be approved. Motion seconded by Mr. Summers and unanimously carried. Mr. iviahoney mo~-ec[ that Gene Moore be appointed to the t{esource Development Board, replacing Ptarvey (Dyer, seconded by Mr. Banks and unanimously carried. Mr. Joseph Burns, Chairman, Beautification Committee requested month of November as Beautification Month. Mayor ~rchie issued Proclamation as requested. Mrs. Krupp, 725 NW 4thStreet made inquiry of a letter sent to the Mayor September 3rd regarding U. S. Day. Mayor ~rchie advised that he had issued a l~roclamation designating October g3rd as U.-So Day. Mr. Harry Leforte made inquiry in regard to cigarette tax and was advised by Mr. Mahoney that the reports are two months in arrears and explained the figures involved. Mr. Banks moved that departmental reports be accepted, seconded by Mr. Madsen and unanimously carried. -Z- Bids were opened as follows: Water I~provement Program: 1. Dexter D. Public Hearing: l~egarding construction of that portion of SW 4th Street between Ocean _A~venue and SW ~lst ~kve~ , a letter of protest was re~id by tkiayor _a_rchie from Mr. & Mrs. Fred Trei~er. There were no other objections and council ruled the above objection insufficient and lv~r. Summers moved that the City go out to bids on construction of SW 4th St. between Ocean and SW 1st ~kve~ Motion seconded by 1Vir; 'Madsen and unanimously carried. Onthe zoning request of Tom I{ashing to re.-zGne lots 396-397 in Cherry Hills which %vas recon]mended b Zoning & Planning Board, /Vir. tViahoney.moYed the request be granted ~o change the zoning to C-1. There Were no objectors and l~ir. Summers seconded the motion which carried unaninaously.
