Pledge of Allegiance was led by. Councilman Banks followed by Invocation given by the Rev. -E. E. Stauffer, First Methodist Church. Repres~entatives from Civic Clubs were recognized as follows: Bill Beck~ Jaycees; Mr.,Penny, Boat Club; Hele~% _A_rChie, Soroptimist Club; l~alph Bogle, Kiwanis; l{obert Hu~es~on, Lionsj William Yates, Board'of l~ealtors; Herbert Keatts ~ Rotary. Minutes of May 6th l{egular Meeting and }~iay 10th Special Meeting were approved as written upon motion, by Mr. Mahoney, second~l by Mr. Summers and unanimously carried except Councilman Banks at, stained from voting on May. 10th minutes in t~at he was not prese~t at that meeting~ MaTer Archie and Officer Johnson presented Merit Award Certificates to School Safety I~atrel members for their service during the sdhool year. Mr. James Bax presented a plaque to Jack Tuite for his service to /he community in reference to the United Fund. Mr. Taite thanked Mr. Bax, Mr. Banks and citizens of Boynton /~each for making this recognition possible. tVir. Mr. Mahoney moved this item be tabled until next regular meeting. A4otion died for lack of second. Mr.-Summers amended the mo[ien: that the lot at ik~ 12th 3kve. a nd Ist St. be sold to ~n Barrett for $2500. net to the City. Mr., ~adsen seconded t~ a~endment and ~otion as amended carried 3-Z. ~aybr ~c~e and ~r. ~ahoney voted f' No "because the Pla~ing and. Zoning Board recommended the lot not be sold and the B~rd of ~eal~ors recommended the City ~old the lot. Mot[on seconded by ~r. ~dsen and un~mo~sly c~rr~ed. A4r. Henderso~ read the committee report recommending purchase of adding machine from t{emex Corporation at low bid of $150.00. Mrs' Summers moved to parchase adding machine for Recreation Dept. as per committee's recommendation, lviotion seconded by/V~r. Bard, s and unanimously carried° The City Manager made inquiry of the Barroughs representative as to ~vhether or net his machine wilt perform all requirements as listed in the specifica- tions and he ~epIied that it wou/d and that he would submit this ~n ~vriting. The National Cash Register representative stated he bid the electronic machine because his ether machine did not meet the specifications° ~ter discussion, Ivir o 1Vi~honey moved to award the bid to Burroughs at the purchase price of$7:778.60 with trade-in of $85.0. taking a 1Z month lease wvith a down p~yment of $406.75 and monthly'payments of $130.67 providing the Burroughs Co,rporation furnish,tl~ City of Boynton Beach a statement in writ- ing that this equipment meets the. specifications ca/led for in the bid proposal and fail~g in anyone-el thern, that the ~ity, has the right to cancel purchase contract on tl~e machine, Iviot~e~ seconded by 1V~. l~adsen and u~animously carried. Public Hearing: _At the public hearing for zo~iing change from l{-lto C-1 - Lot ZZ, iZ, Central Park _4_unex, 105 S~ ~v~. to be ~sed for Beauty Shop & Florist Shop, there ~ere no objectors and no one spoke f0~ the change. The ~ity A~orney read Ordi~nce 63-18. ~r~ ~akoney ~oved that Ordinance 6~-18 be ~dopted on first re~ding and passed to second read~g. ~o/ion seconded by ~r. Banks and u~ani~o~-sly carrie~. -3- Public Audience: Bill Beck appeared borer0 council and stated his paper ~v~s planning a special edition in commemoration of the &6th birthday of B0ynton Beahh. He requested council to co-operate in .order that the coun§$1~s wQrk for the past five years can be featured on the center pages of the paper. lV~r. Mahoney moved the adoption of Ordinance 63-17 on second and final reading. Motion seconded by Mr. Banks and unanimously carried. Mr. Mahoney moved that the Mayor be authorized to wire the Governor ex-pressing the City*s desire to have him veto the bill to split up Lake Okeechobee. Motion seconded by lvir. Summers and unanimously carried. The CRty ~kttorney advised that the City had filed notice of intent to file claim with the dredge company for d~mage :to water main. In reference to lots in Boynton Hills it~ has been learned the owner of lots is now deceased and City ~orney ~s dealing ~ith ~e estate. ~eference ~o assessments ~n ~ns $~b-division - approximately $~, 000. paid to date. -4- Abandonment procedure in Laurel Hills has been completed. llrord has been received from Lyman~s attorney they do no~ intend to release land for extension of NE gnd ~kve. Inasmuch as Palm Beacr~ County is requesting 106t r/w on Seacrest Boulevard, A/ir. Mahoney moved bat the City Manager be a~thorized to return the cemetery plat to Brockway, Weber & Broclcway and that Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute the dedication of the plat, Motion seconded by /V~r. Madsen and unanimously carried. In reference to change order at SW 14, 13, 1Z, 11 between SW t and SW3 regarding the sewer line, l~r. Mahoney moved that the matter be'tabled tmtil approval is received frem the U. S. P~blic Health Service, seconded by Mr. Summers and unanimously carried. It was reported by iV~r. t~yan this line was already being installed. -5- The City Manager was complimented for his ~vork on the budget and it was revealed that only 45.~0% of ~ f~ds have bee.n e~ended for the first six mont~s of the year.
