Completed eight new transfers for the Boynton Cultural Centre board to sign. • After reviewing the Northern Micrographics pricing for scanning the rest of the Lake Worth Herald Newspapers (1971-2002) we determined that for all the work BBCL would do for the project, we would get little in return: the later newspapers have much less Boynton Beach content, and we have our own newspapers from that time period to scan. With the library move potentially scheduled for this spring/summer — which is the same time as the grant due date — we decided to wait at least a year before submitting the second part of the grant. • Submitted full proposal for the SEFLIN Breakthrough Award for the Lake Worth Herald Digitization Project (1912-1970), requesting partial funding for one of the servers that is not covered by the LSTA funding. • Attended two webinars: NEFLIN Pain-free Presentations and PLAN Effective Workplace Communication Skills. • Worked with one researcher looking at historic fishing photographs. • AmeriCorps Report: ADULTS ESOL Classes: Beginner Class The Beginner ESOL class was held from 9:OOam-10:15am from Monday thru Thursday. 15 total classes were held throughout this month. 247 seats were occupied throughout the 15 classes. The average amount of students in class was 16. The largest class size this month was 22 students. 36 individual students signed up for this class, and all 36 actually attended classes at least once: 5 students (14%) attended only one class 6 students (17%) attended two or three classes 7 students (19%) attended four to six classes 8 students (22%) attended seven to ten classes 10 students (28%) attended eleven or more students Three (8%) students in Beginner's class had perfect attendance this month. 16 students (44%) attended both this class and the Advanced Beginner ESOL class at least once. This month we continued to focus on more grammar. We finished up the 'wh' lesson using family members. We then targeted the revisions of present continuous tense as well as preposition of location. We spent a great time on preposition in terms of places around town, describing neighborhood and apartments using `there is'and `there are'. They had quite the fun grasping the`preposition'aspect of the lessons. We have been using the Side by Side Textbook 1 and the accompanying workbook, as well as the Word by Word Basic textbook. We are also using the Oxford Picture Dictionaries as an accessory. Overall, this was a fanatical month for our Beginner's ESOL class. They are learning and remain focused in and out of class. There has been some issues with repetition with a few students but it's nothing with 'a little studying' cannot fix. The enthusiastic level from the students has been through the roof, as they get the light bulb switching on in their brains. They are very happy when they realize that they can carry conversations in and out of class. Advanced Beginner -- The-Advanced Beginner ESOL-class was held from 10:30am-11:45am from Monday thru Thursday. 15 total classes were held throughout this month. 109 seats were occupied throughout the 15 classes. The average class size was 7, although we did have as many as 10 students in class all at once. 18 individual students signed up for this class, and all 18 attended classes at least once: 5 students (28%) attended only one class 1 student (6%) attended two to three classes 4 students (22%) attended four to six classes 4 students (22%) attended seven to nine classes 4 students (22%) attended ten or more classes Only one (6%) student had perfect attendance this month. 16 students (89%) attended both this class and the Beginner's ESOL class at least once. This month we continued to work on grammar and conversation yet again, as this is to help in the preparation of speaking without fear. The interchangeable lesson for conversation and grammar has seemed to be a great success for the students. This month we wrapped up the superlative lesson and focus on writing an essay. The students spent a great amount of classes working on their 2018 Adult Literacy Student Essay. The Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County is the organization that is hosting this essay. The students will submit their essay next month. This 2018 adult essay aided in their writing and comprehensive skills. They had some difficulty understanding what was asked of them for this essay. Many of the students had to re-do their essay a couple times. We are using two textbooks. We have been using the Side by Side 2 textbook and its accompanying workbook. Practice Makes Perfect: English Conversation is the other book that we are using to construct spontaneous conversational skills. We are also using the Oxford Picture Dictionaries as an accessory. This class' attendance has been the best yet ever seen since the start of this course. They have been on their toes about attending class and getting the most out of it. I enjoyed watching them engage in class. If has been a joy to see all the advance students attending class not only every week but also on or sometimes before time. Private Tutoring 10 students signed up for private tutoring and all received one on one tutoring or help this month. Eight (80%) students received help in grammar and pronunciation. The remaining two (20%) of the students, received help in phonics to learn how to read effectively. I have been getting requests from students about GED tutoring, but none had actually showed up for assistance. Overview Overall, 53 individual students signed up for ESOL and all attended classes for the month of February. The class sizes were still ascending this month. Walk-ins were also increasing. February has been the month where attendance has been active. Many of the students have found out that they are better off making it to class then staying home on their day off or when they have some free time. There have been a couple of students who wished we offered an evening class. That is something to consider if time allows and space availability is granted. EXPLANATION OF SUMMARY PAGE ACCOUNT STATUS REPORT Left Column Accounts Submitted: Total number of accounts submitted for collection. Bankruptcies:Total number of accounts in bankruptcy. Incorrect Addresses:Total number of accounts for which we do not have correct addresses yet. Skip tracing efforts continue for quite some time so this number is very dynamic. Patron Disputes/Suspends: Total number of accounts where collection efforts have been stopped because the patron disputed the debt or the Library suspended collection efforts as a result of payment arrangements, mistakes, etc. Accounts in Process: Total number of accounts being processed through our collection service. This number is arrived at by subtracting Bankruptcies, Incorrect Addresses and Patron Disputes/Suspends from the total number of Accounts Submitted. #of Accounts Activated:Total number of accounts that have responded in some way to reduce their balance. They could have returned material, made a payment or a combination of both. % of Accounts Activated: Percentage of processed accounts that have responded in some way (#of Accounts Activated divided by Accounts in Process). This percentage is a good measure of response rate because it measures the percentage of patrons that have actually responded due to the collection process. Middle Column Dollars Submitted: Total dollar amount due from all accounts submitted for collection. Dollars in Bankruptcy: Total dollar amount due from all accounts in bankruptcy. Dollars in Skips:Total dollar amount due for accounts with incorrect addresses. Dollars in Dispute: Total dollar amount for all accounts that have been disputed.. Dollars in Process:Total dollar amount for all accounts being processed. This number is equal to the Dollars Submitted minus Dollars in Bankruptcy, Dollars in Skips, and Dollars in Dispute, as well as the dollar amount due for all suspended and closed accounts(not detailed on this report). Its purpose is to show the total dollar amount actually being worked.. Total Activated:Total original amount due by all Accounts Activated. The difference between this number and the sum of Dollars Received, Material Returned, and Dollars Waived is the remaining balance due by all Accounts Activated. % of Dollars Activated: Percentage of processed dollars that have been activated (Total Activated divided by Dollars in Process). Right Column Dollars Received:Actual money recovered as reported by the Library. Material Returned:Actual value of material returned as valued and reported by the Library. Dollars Waived:Actual dollars waived by the Library as reported by the Library. https://web.unique-mgmt.com/help_Iii les/summary.asp 3/6/2017
