AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
AMENDING SEiCTION 142 OF ARTICLE VII OF THE MUNICIPAL
CHARTEROF SAID CITY CHANGING THE PERIOD OF TIME
FROM FtVE>~DA¥S TO~5 DAYS BEFORE ANY CITY ELECTION
DURING WHICHTIME REGISTRATIONS OF ELECTORS SHALL NOT
BE RECEIVED, AS AUTHORIZED UNDER CHkPTER 166 OF THE
FLORIDA STATUTES ENTITLED "MUNICIPAL HOME RULE POWERS
ACT"; FURTHER PROVIDING FOR AUTHORITY.TO CODIFY,
SAVINGS CLAUSE,~EPEALING PROVISIONS, ~N EFFECTIVE
DATE AND FOR oTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That Section 142 of Article VII of the
Municipal Charter of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, be and
is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 142. Registration Officer and Registration.
The City Clerk Shall be %he registration officer of
the City and said clerk, or his duly appointed deputies,
shall register all persons applying to him whose names
are not already borne upon the registration book
applicable to the City and who are qualified as electors
under the Constitution and laws of the State of Florida.
For this purpose such registrations shall be received
during normal business hours or at such other times as
designated by the City Council at the office of the
City Clerk or at such other places within the City limits
when duly designated by the City Council, except that
same shall be closed for 45 days before any City election.
Registrations shall be upon forIas provided by the
Supervisor of Elections of Palm Beach County, Florida."
Section 2: Authority to Codify: Specific authority is
hereby granted to codify and incorporate this Ordinance in the
City's existing Code.
Section 3: Separability: Each of the provisions of this
Ordinance are separable, including word, clause, phrase or
sentence, and if any portion thereof shall be declared invalid,
the remalning portion shali not be affected but shall remain in
full force and effect.
Section 4: Repealing Provision: Ail ordinances or
parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 5: An Effective Date: This Ordinance shall
become effective
law.
