R93-18RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COmmISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, URGING PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION DENIAL OF SOUTHERN BELL'S PROPOSAL FOR MEASURED MESSAGE UNITS AND FORTY MILE PLAN REPLACING IT WiTH THE CITY'S 40 MiLE PLAN; AND PROVIDING A=N EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida has deemed it to be in the best interest of the residents and citizens of the City of Boynton Beach to strongly urge the Public Service Commission to deny Southern Bell's proposal of measured message units and their proposed forty mile plan; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida strongly urges the Public Service Commission to deny Sodthern Bell'S prop6sai of measured message units. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, FiDrida, strongly urges the Public Service Commission to deny Southern's Bell proposal of a forty mile plan with measured units. Section 3. The City Co~mission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida~ urges the Public Service Commission to compel Southern Bell to utilize a portion of the Three Million Dollars ($3~000,000.00) in set asides which are being held in escrow, to be used to upgrade Southern Be!l's communication cable in Boynton Beach. This upgrade should be mandated to correct the disparity of billing classifications within the municipal boundaries of the City of Boynton Beach. The following Greenacres City and Lake Worth exchanges being utilized by the residents of the City of Boynton Beach should be incorporated into the Boynton Beach billing classification: 433, 434, 439, 533, 580, 582, 585, 586, 588, 641, 642, 964, 965, 966, 967, 968 and 969. Section 4. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida strongly urges the Public Service Commission to compel Southern Bell to institute the following proposed forty mile plan: The first 10 miles within the local calling area would be free unlimited calls; the remaining 30 miles within the billing area will be billed at a flat rate of $.25 per call. Section 5. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida authorizes Vice Mayor Lynne Matson to undertake a program of advocacy on behalf of the City of Boynton Beach to effectuate the intent of this Resolution. Section 6. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida authorizes the City Clerk to forward a copy of this Resolution to the appropriate legislative and regulatory agencies. Section 7. That this Resolution effective im~ediateiy upon passage. shall become PASSED AND ADOPTED this ATTEST: day of February, 1993.
