R92-218RESOLUTION NO. R92-~/~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, URGING THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE TO VOTE "NO" ON A VETO OVERRIDE REGARDING LOCAL GOVERNMENT PENSION PLANS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY "NO" ON ANY ASSESSMENT OF LOCAL PENSION PLANS; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO FORWARD COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE APPROPRIATE LEGISLATIVE AGENCIES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, SB 102-H (1992 Session), which would have assessed city pension plans to totally fund the state bureau that reviews them was vetoed by Governor Chiles; and WHEREAS, said bill contains several provisions that would have a negative impact on cities; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens, residents, and employees of the City of Boynton Beach to urge our Legislators to vote "NO" on a veto override and more particularly on any assessment of local pension plans. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE C~TY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida urges the Legislature to vote "No" on a veto override and more particularly on any assessment of local pension plans. Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this Resolution upon passage to the appropriate Legislative agencies. PASSED AND ADOPTED this /~-- day of December, 1992.
