Howard Hood ~. Stanley Weaver 1~. Joseph De Marco Mr. Albert Deen Mayor Shook called the meeting to order at 7:30 P. M. Mr. LaMar Ellen representing the Resources Development Board spoke about the new publication of Palm Beach Cotmtry Story Magazine and its advertising value to our city. Mr. Shook suggested this be turned over to the Chamber of Commemce for their discretion. A letter from Mrs. Ga¥1en Goodwin, oresident of the Library Committee, was read by ~4rs. Hood and the Library Committee has reported that the library will be renovated and a regular schedule has been worked out for a 12 ~our week at $1.00 an hour. It will cost the city SP0oO0 a month for ~ seven month period to assist the library for a part time employee. ~. DeMarco moved we appropriate the sum of $3~0.00 to helo the co~iZtee~ }~. Hood seconded the motion. All in favor. Dorothy V. Williams~ city clerk, read the minutes of the last meeting of the council of Seotember 20th, 19~. Mm. Hood made a motion they be accepted and Mr. Weaver seconded the ~' - mo~on~ all in favor. A letter from Earl Morser was read about having an ordinance drawn -ap that would orohibit parking a trailer anywhere in the city~ except in a trailer camp. It was opposed unanimously by the board as a property owner should be able ~o park his trailer in an orderly fashion on his own land. E request from POMA was read suggesting that a site be found in our city for the proposed J-~nior College re-location. Mm. Weaver made a motion that the city go on record to make an attemot to secure necessary location. Mr. DeMarco seconded the motion; all in favor. The building report for the month of Septe~Der was read totalling $2oo,3 fo. oo. Recommendations were read from the Planning Board meeting of Seotember 28~ 1954 on a prooosed tree ordinance~ right of way set backs for Ocean Avenue~ Palmetto Street~ and Woolbright Road~ also on having building structures surveyed in the future and enforcing our Lot Clearing Ordinance in the city. The council will meet with the Planning Board and check into these recommendations. The Planning Board also recommends all signs be prohibited in the city~ and the council suggests the Planning Board have a meeting with the Realtors in the city ~o discuss this recommendation. Mr. Weaver made a motion we hold restrictions on Ocean Avenue and Palmetto Street until further study of the council and Planning Board for future approval and a 58~ setback on the Highway until the meeting. ~. Mayor Shook issued a proclamation designating October 23rd as U~ited steres~ Day and calling on organizations of the city to celebrate appropriately. A letter was acknowledged from the Garden Club of Boynton Beach. A Resolution was read from West Palm Beach about themerging of the railroads and Mr. Hood made a motion we adopt a similar resolution, Mr. Deen seconded the motion~ motion c=r~ed. All in favor. A Beer & Wine license was approved for Alfred Wright by a motion from Mr. Hood. ¥~. DeMarco seconded~ all in favor~ ~ letter expressing gratitud& was rea8 from Cant. Cover of the National Airlines thau~ing the city for their support and stating that the Helioport will be in operation in the near future. Five new lights will be installed on Ocean Avenue between Green Street and N. E. 1st A-ventre~. 1~. Weaver made a motion that Mr. Benson~s o!at be accepted on tentative approval uoon completion of the streets. Mr. Hood seconded the motion~ all in favor. The second reading of Ordinance 263~"Aumexing Rolling Green Ridge] was read and ~. W~eaver moved we accept the second reading~ Mr. Hood seconded the mozion. Motion carried. It was suggested that since the city map is becoming outdated they should be given to the Chamber of Commerce for advertising. A plat was shown on a section of the proposed right of way on Green Street extension north which will be a county road. The people in the vicinity are in favor of this. Mr. Hood made a motion that the city get s new set of maps and replace the worn-out sheets of the plat book and the new subdxv~s~o~s be kept up to da~e. R~. Deen seconded the motion~ ell in favor. Mr. Hood made a motion that the city attorney draw up an ordinance and nresent it to the council to be brought un at the next meeting that oaroiees must register with the city. Mm. DeMsrco seconded the motion~ motion carried. The water and sanitation report was read by Mr. Christiansen for the month of August and September.. · 1s ~tr. Weaver recommends the city sign a contract with Tesco Chemmca_ for con~mnmea chlorine supply to be mrawn up by the city attorney to protect the city in an emergency. A motion was m~de by Mr. ~$eaver that a letter of appreciation be sent to Mrs. Katherine Thompson for faithful service and s bonus of two weeks nay be sent with the letter. ~. DeMarco se~onaed the motion~ all in favor. -3- Mr. Gr~f~tn was asked by the council to draw up an ordinance of street requirements with a 20' minimum width. It was decided that anyone found working in the city without a license be picked up without ~urther notice. ~ur license ordinance should bE enforced.
