Minutes 08-23-54MINUTES OF E MEETING 0~ THE COUNCIL, ?LANNING & ZONING BOARD HELD IN CITY HALL, BOYNTON BEACH, FLORID~, ON THE 23RD OF AUGUST, 195%. PRESENT: Mayor A. E. Shook, Stanley Weaver, O. Howard Hood, Albert Deen, W. E. Notan, Homer Shelton, .~l!en Nyquist, Robert McDonald, Ann Barrett and L. S. Chadwell. The meeting was opened by Mayor Shook at 8 P. M. Mayor Shook introduced the guests of the evening as J. Lou Oaro, Uhairman of the Planning Board, F. Mc~arry, former city manager, Karl Hal!er, Engineer, and J. Lozito, Building Inspector, all of West Palm Beach. Palm,each in~1935 to give an idea of how they had controlled the zoning in their city. It was also brought up that a city that is growing rapidly should look to the future and provide for expansion and parking facilities. There should be land available for the use of playgrounds, additions to cemetery; etc. Ann Barrett brought up the question of how our city could get a better homes section off the main thoroughfares. Mr. Charles Boos suggested a letter of appreciation be sent to City Manager, Keith Chi_un, for our guests being present at the meeting. There was brought up to the Zoning Board thre~ applications for building permits. Mr. Sheltonmade a motion to reject Mr. Leon Grummons application as the section in question is residential and not zoned for a work shop. Mr. Nolan seconded the motions all in favor. Motion made by Mr. Shelton to grant an exception to Kenneth Lyman for the addition of an open porch~and storage room to his present building if it can oa~s the fire department zoning and al~o that he conform to building and plumbing code. ¥~. Nolmn seconded the motion~ all in favor. Mr~.~t~ made m motmon that the pt~ns and application of Mr. for a building permit for a tackle shop on South Federal Highway be approved. ~. Nolan seconded the motion, passed unanimously. Jurney E. L. Baker was assured that ingress and egress to his property through a residential zone would in no way jeopardize his carrying on business in his building which conforms to business zoning regulations, There being no further business the Mayor adjourned the meeting, City Clerk
