Mayor P~rinton called the meeting to c~der at 7.30 P.M.
M_~. Joseph Greenwood asked why houses on Green Street are
.estrmctem to 1300 squa-we feet on .one side and to 1500 square
feet on the other. He was told tha$ tbifslz~r~g had bee~ re-
quested by the o~e~s of the l~ud, s-ed that amy objection
should be brought up to the Zoning Board, as' tdee Com~uissioners
have no power to chs~o, ge zoning la~¢s withput the Pecorm~.endation
of the Zoning Board.
}~. T~reesen asked why the audmt for ohe year ended
October 31, 1953 had not been accepved~andw~eher there was
not a copy of the audit av~lable ~idm he' ~ld ex~e now.
He was told that the audit ~uld not be ~ecepted until s~ain
corrections are made and ~mat, in ~ae meautLme, the bil%has
no~ been p~d. He was also told th~ he ~uld see one of
the copies of the audit provided to each Commissioner, ~t
th~ the copy must be returned.
Regarding a petition t~ned into City Hall containing
twentyfive nmmes, ~. Edward Cyr mud others in the audience
complained of the condition of S.E. 9th Avenue, s~ving that
it needed re-surfacing.
W~Lv. Shook asked whether the road had been 0,Kayed by
the ~ugineer,

Mr. Shook said the Cou_ucil is going to t?y to pave every

~ne City has~ not ~e money at present with whmc~ to do
this, ~ud Mr. Griffith said the money could be raisem either
by assessments~ revenue bonds~ or by direct taxation.
One member of the audience complained of Ko!endo Con-
st~mction sheds, etc., being left on location after construction
is completed, and Mayor ~a~_'nton said he would ask the ~aief
of Police to go dorm mad make au inspection %~th a view to
having it clesned up, adding that the Co~uci! will do every-
thing they csn to put things right.

There was a long discussion on a complaint that children
straying on private property contsdzing danger.spots in the
shape of partially constz~.cted buildings might get h~rt. The
Mayor said that this was not ~he City,s business but a matter
between the property owner and the complainer.
Mr. Ray Zompa c~plained of the condition oF the road
nes,~ his residence, amd refer~ed to the road behind t~_e Quik
~ek market as being wel! finished although_ having no houses
on it.
The Mayor said that this road had been put in as a favor
to induce the ms~cket to come in and so greatly increase the
tax returns of the City.

regarding a_wran ements for fire protection.
A similar contract to that with G~f Stream had been
suggested. As the Fire ~nief has stated that he considers
this a good contract, it was agreed to ask him to take the

A letter from the Chauber of Com~aerce was read express-

The Mayor said that there was now in the Trea~ary¢

snytb~ng but the purchase of outstanding bonds of the issue
of October l, 1946.

requesting bids for these bonds be inserted in the Palm Beach
Post ~d Bond Buyer; the bids to be opened at the next regular
meet%ug of the Co~ucil. Motion carried.

~m~ Griffith said he had received a letter fror~ the
M'muicipal Code Corporation~ of Tallsfiaassee, Florida, presenting
a plan for the consideration of tf~e Council for codifying the
City's ordinauces at a cost of approximately $~,000.00. He
added that he thought a new Charter sho~mld be prepared before
.taking up this offer, in order t~t tlme new Chs~wter could be
included~ end that in a~y case the matter could not be decided
before the next meeting of the State Legislat~e.
1,~r. Shook cuestioned tb~ legality Of ~. ~Uaitman obtaining
a pl~s~bing permit for a job to be done by Mr. I~IcGrath~ who
does not pay for a City Occupational L~cense.
Mr. Griffith said that th~ matter should be brought
before the Plzumb~ug Board for decision as to whether ~Lr. ~aitman,s
license sho~s_ld be ~spended, as taking part in a little get-
together to try to c~c~mvent the Code.
