Mayor Purinton c~lled the meeting to order ~ V.30 P.M.
Er. Hatless presented a sketch of a 1320 ft. strip of
property alongside the East side of the railway, between the
four-lane highway and the Seaboard, North of ~h~ Boynton Co-
operative. He said the prospective buyers wish to get into
heavy comstruction work in Boynton Beach and, need a la~ge tract
with a railroad siding, but th~ a ri:ght of way is desired over
the rLght of way now belonging to the Co-operative, in order
to get in, and he asked mf the Co-operative could be persuaded
~o g~snt such. right of way; that this would mea~ a large business
to the community and that action by the Council was wanted as soon
as possible.
The Mayor said the ~atter would be taken under considera-
tion; that the property zs already zoned commercial and he would
certainly recommend it if successful negotiations cma be made.
M~. Steve Hulme, Manager of the Boynton Beach Chmnber of
Commerce, said the Boa~d of Directors had aske~ him to bring up
a few requests to the Council: One was a study of parking con-
ditions on Ocean Avenue~ that a flicker light be p~aeed at Ocean and
A-S-A; aud that a planning board be established to tske care of the
future growth of the City.
Mayo~ Purinton said that Ocean mud A-1-A was in the town of
0cean Ridge and was controlled by the State. That as a new
Eoning Bosr d will probably be necessary, a Planning Board will be
established in connection with it.
~eg~arding the Gulf Stresm L,~mber Comps~y, which would possibly
bring ~n $100,000 in pay roll to the City, Mr. Hulme was asked to h~e
the Ch~ber write a letter to the City setting forth their wishes in
this matter.
~ Mr. Hulme said the Ch~ber would like permission from the
C~uncil to erect a temporary Ch~nber of Commerce building on the
Kolendo property next to Joe He, less on the Highway.
Mayor Purinton sai~ this would be useful d~ring the w~nter

opposition from the Council. ~ ~

City Clerk, Dorothy V. Williams, read the min~es of the last
regular meeting of the Council of January 19, 1983.
Mr. Griffith said it was M~. Farish who had applied for per-
mission to erect a temporary building on V~oolbright Road in Section
28.
Er. Hood moved and Mr. Weaver seconded that, w~th the above
change, the minutes be accepted as read. Notion passed unanimously.
A letter, dated January 29, 1983~ was read from Mt. Fred Benson
tendering his resignation as a Nember of the Sorting Board.
N~. We~ er moved and Mr. Hood seconded that the City write ~Ar.
Benson a letter of appreciation for the good services he has rendered
to the City, and accept his resignation with regret. Notion passed
unanimously.
A letter dated January ~, 1953 was read from Voiture Locale
No.290 suggesting the City subscribe $200 to their fund for adver-
tising purposes.
Mr. ~Jeaver described the standing and activities of the
Forty and Eight, aud did not think the advertising would be worth
$200 to the City.
The Mayor said that as the Budget had already been set up he
did no~ see how the City could give them $200.
~r. Shook thought that as we are so close to West P~lm Beach
we should make a little effort to help, and it was agreed that a
letter be written asking for full information.
Nr. Hulas said the Chenber o~ Comme_.ce expected to have a new
pamphlet on Boynton within a few weeks, which could ~e handed out
during the proposed publicity c sm~paign in August.
~r. Griffith thought the pamphlets mentioned by Nr. Hulme will
all have been distribited before August.
Mr. Hatless offered to lay out an inexpensive folder and said
he would contribute $2~.00 toward the cost of printing, say, l0 000

A letter, dated February 2, 1953, from Mt. Hatless was read
enclosing a deed from the Anniston Company tot he City for the
parks and easements in Laurel Hills.

read from the International Association of Electrical Engineers,
accapting him for active membership.
The B~ilding Report for the month of January was read.,
amounting to ~171,469.00.
The matter of a Plumbing Ir~pector was agaLu ~abled until
an Executive Meeting had been held .e~a_ding~ ~ it.
Mr. Joe Hatless brought up the matter of the ~nce. tamnty~ ' of
the South City limits.
~. Griffith said the description of the boundary in the
1947 Charter included parts of the land excl-~! ed by Court Decree
in 1939; that several portions ar~ not a bona fide exclusion and
that some of the people are p~bably ignoraut as to w.hether they are
in or out$ that putting it in the Charter without incorporatong
it does not include it without the consent of the property owner.
~ro Hatless suggested that for the sake of the future the

~r. Griffith was asked to give this opinion.
Two plats were submitted by El!iott Gross for ~Pprova!; the
one of ~[orrison Heights, after a long discussion, was accepted
subject to a performance bond to put in all paving shown on plat.
Regarding the Sunny Dale plat, ~r. Gross said nothing had been
done on this, and it was agreed that it will be approved when the
streets and water are in; meantime a performance bond will be
ac cepted.

and the Department was compl,lmented on its good work.
o±,ce Chief Carver said he would like to recommend Frank
Howard as a Special Polzcemsm~ at $1.00 a year to po~i~e Lake Avenue
and Green Street during church services on Sundays. Mr. HOward had
volunteered to do this.

get a little heavier machine and that the present one is about
shot. He advised a combination loader with a crane on it~ and
was asked to obtain ' o

read recommending the purchase of another accounting machine
for City Hall.
After a long discussion the matter was tabled.
Nr. Hood read bids on tires for the red service truck and
after discussion, moved th~at the hid of the Orange State 0il
Company be accepted as~the lowest. Mr. Shook seconded and the
motion was passed uuanimously.
A list of bills OtKayed this Svening was read. Nr. Shook
asked for an explanation of the bill for n~ters~ which was given
by Mr. Ch~istia~sen who said there ar~ now ~bout 75 new and 25
old meters on hand.
