~he M~ver calle~ ~he meeti~ to order at ~ ?.Mo on October 3, 1951.
He explained that he had cai.led this sloecial citizen's meeting
because his '~hcne~~ had been continually ringing the whcl~, day with
indiE~nt pr0tes~s from annoyed citizens veicing~ their ebje~cticns to an
article eh: ~the f~?nt ~0f a-Mia~-i loaI~r that?aoruing. ~he ara!otc
in ~Uestish'c~e~ibed the S~ge 'n~S~d M~te! as being in ,Delr~ ,Beach,
whe~ as & ~er ef f~c~, i~ is in, ~ a so~oe of ~i~e %e ~yn~e~
He said ~hat in his ~udgn~ent the mistake ~ been .~ie by wheever
2~rwarded ~the ~rticle tO ~he P~i~r, a~d was in no w~y the £ault ef the
paper.
The opinions of these presen~ were asked for and a l~ng disc~ssion
followed. EverYOne agreed Shat th~ reporters in Delray have been here
long enough ~e knew that this motel is in Boynton Beth.
Mr. Sherratt, the editer cf the !coal ne~spa~er, said that he
thought that p~ssibly the Bure~ in Delray was responsible for the
mistake, ~ud ~he best ~y to h~ndle it would be to write to the Editor
of the Herald saying that ~n error had been made in an article in their
issue of ,0c~er 3, .and that tko Sage 'N Sand ~is not within five miles
of Delray$ th~ it is no~ known how the mistake arose but t~hat we would
like to h~ve it cerr~cted$ tha~ s~ch a letter might c~uee the Herald
to send someo.~e to write it up ~operty. He also s~q~gested a letter
be written t~o 'Helida~v' publishers.
Mr. percival said a possible explanation w~s that the ~n ~o ~.ites
the articles ~oes ~ot write the headlines, and as the artis~me was evi-
dently written at Delrs~y, ~.t ~ws received by the H~rald ~nder the date
line of Deirmy and thus w21tten up as being in that city.
One suggestion was ~hat possibly ~he real estate people in Delr~y
originated ~h~, article, ~nd ~hat certainly the Delrmy Chamber of Cs~merce
wo-~!d not have sponsored it.
~r. Geller also thought the Chamber of Corette had nothing %0 de
with the mistake a~d that they oo~!d not tell the news~per ~hat to do.
He said he w°~d ge to Delrs~v te see the r~perter tomorrow.
The t~ver suggest.ed .a t:etter from the local Chamber of Commerce
to the Editor ~f the 2,~iaml ~erald, and said the agency in Delray sho~d
be o~utlon~d ~i~t ~i~ su~ a ~s~ke in ~e., He add~ %hat ~e
~s ~ cri$icisi~ ~ht~ or ~body, but that he ~ llke to see
that in fU~ if ~hing ~e~ ~ich concerns Bo~ten.~ach,
B6ynton .Bea~ sho~d be me~ioned ~d ~et Delray Beach c~y
~, Hoc% saidBoynton is continually misrepresented and that
some plan should be formulated to combat this tendency, otherwise
Boyntcn Beach ~ill never be menSioned at all,.as it seems always
~o'be omitted.
It wa~ decided that letters should be written by the 0hamber of
Commer~ce~hothto She Ni~am~.. Eerald a~dto 'Holiday'; and a letter by
the Cemmlssioners te the ~iami Herald; both letters to the Herald to
be addressed to the Editor by name.

The ~'~.yor suggested a possible incorporation of the three names
Another suggestion w~s that a letter ahould be ~ritten to Harold
Watkins, Palm BeachSchool S~perintendent, en the matter.
_,~r. Skerratt said he wo~ld talk to the mauwho r~zus the B~remu
at Lake Worth.
The~TaFor said Boyntonm~st have more t~mbticit~ ~ it should be
deoided what form such advertising should take. For one thingm~ch
could be made of She fact that it is certainly the best place on the
East coast for fishing.
It wms suggested that am offi cial photographer be appointed to
take photos ef catchers with their oatchea, charging the catchers for
the pictures, and sending copies to their home newspapers. The photo-
grapher to go down to the Inlet twice daily tc take details cf the fish-
lng, na~es, etc.
2~r. Johnson said he would interest himself in organiSing this plan.
It ~as suggestedtha~ as the Charter Boatmen Asscciation Club has
just been organised, the Chamber of Commerce should invite them to
attend a meeting of the Chamber in order to exchange ideas.
There was a long discussion on the Chamber oF ~o~erce, ~nd regret
~hat ~nforeseen circumstances had forced it to b~ closed down since
complaints tb~%t ~he Chamber was a~ways~ asking for money, brought forth
the statement that it could do nothing without money, ~ud at present
i~ had none.
Ann B~rrett said iS wo~ld be helpful if people wo~ld come in 5,wt
organise a Chamber and everyone pay mh~t th~j can afford; that a young
man ~st o~t of~the trai~ingsoh~ol for Chamber of 0emmerce executives
could be e~ployed ~ith advantage, and that Ed. Stump of West i~alm Beach
might come and work without payment,
During a discussi~o~n on the possibility of ~baving Beynton m~de a
train Flag Stop, ~s. ~ite s~id that at present She was unmbte tO make
shlpmen~e nearer than West Palm Beach.
