Those present were~ Mr. B. B. Tattersall, ~ayor ~r. W. T. Woolbright Mr. Ralph D. Ross ~r. F. L. ~urinton Mr. Clarence Benson. The meeting was called vo order by Mayor Tattersall. The ~ayor asked that the minutes of the last regular meeting be read. Mr. Benson read the minutes of the meeting held on the fifth day of January, 19~8, and conzinued on the seventh day of January, 19~8. The minutes were approved as read. The Cor~mission authorized, the paymenv of ~lO0.00~to ~. S. p'~ ~tman for the unloading of a dragline from~:a railroad car. The Mayor asked if there was any further business vo be taken up. Mr. Woolbright brought up the prospect of a local canning center. ~rs. Ethel Adams told the Commission that the County would furnish half the cost of the ~n~lding up to and not e~ceeding ~2500.00. It was decided tha~ if the Counvy would furnish ~2500.00 the City would be able to furnish the rest of the money necessary to construct a building ~o be used for a canning center. The Mayor said that ae would get in touch with the County Commission and find out definitely what they would contribute. .~t this time, Mr. Purinton ~uestioned the legality of the ~oec~a_~~ _' 1 Meeting of the City Co~mi~sion held on the twelth day of ~anuary, 19~8, and stated that the Charter specified that w~itten notices be sent to each of the commissioners infozming them of a Special Meeting. ~r. Tattersall said that all the Oon~aissioners were present when it was agreed that a special meeting be held. ~r. Purinton told the Co=mission that he was starting suit i~mediately against the City to find out who was the legal Mayor of the City of Boynton. The skepticism stems from Section 12 of the Charter which was discussed at the first meeting under the new Charter on the fifth day of January, 19~8. The Mayor adjourned the meeting, stating that ne would confer ~th t~e City Attorney as zo the tegality~continuing the meetings under the circumstances. // ~. · Mayor -..
