City The City Co~mucil convened at a Special Meeting at Hall, at V:30 ~ ~ ~.M., February l~th, 19~9. Cotuncilmen presen~: the Mr. F. L..Purinton, Mayor Mr, Ralph Ross Mr. W.To Woolbright Mr. C.H. Hood ~f~. A,E. Shook The meeting was called to order by Mayor Purinton~ who stated the meeting was called to t~e up a few special projects. Parking on 0cemu Avenue was discussed/mud several solutions to relieve the congestion on Ocean Avenue between the Federal Hwy and the FEC R.R. tracks were considered. A motion was made by Mr~ Hood, seconde~ by ~. Ross, and unaminously carried that hori- zontal parking on the south side, and diagonal parking on the north side of 0cean Avenue be adopted. Mr. Maurice Edmister, West i~a]_m Beach, Fla., appeared be- fore the Co~uucil and explained ~he operation of "money boards,~, and licenses and occupational taxes. He' recommended licensing of all dealers in boards before permitting them to buy tax stamps Following d_scuss~on, motion w as made by ~r. Shook, seconded by Mr. Hood that au Ordinmace governing punch boards be prepared for reading at the next regular meeting. All ~ouncilmen with the exception~ of Mr; Woolbri~nt~' voted in favor of the motion. Cleaning or burning-off.of vacant ls~ud in the City, which is a fire or snake hazard was ~s'cussed, and referred to the Fire Chief. Permission was given the Fire Department to attend fires ou~smde of ~he City limit,s, if life or p~ope~t ~ is - - ~ in danger. Communities assisted will be billed for use of fi~e equipment plus the service rendered. Motion was made by Mr. Hood, seconded by Mr. Ross,-smd tuaaminously carried that the i0~ discount allowed on water bills if paid before the 10th of the month bed'mscont~nued' with the February bills. Motion was made by ~r. Hood, seconded by Mr. Wooibright aud unaminously carried that a one-half page ad 0osting ~0.00 be placed in the Boynton Beach News, congratulating the ~oynton Beach State Bar~ on its first year of operation, -2- Notion was made by Mr. Ross, seconded by Mr. Wooibright that former Co~ciimau Clarenoe Benson be paid one half month's salary for services.rendered during January, 1949. Notion carried unaminously. The Clerk was instructed to write the following letters: To the Superintendent of Public Instruction, Palm Beach County. (~, Howell Watkins) rega~ding employment of local car- pente~ on the new South P~lm Beach County High School in Delray Beach. ~v~. Harry Geller, owner of condemned building at Lake Avenue and the FEC R.R~ tracks, to have building demolished and removed in accordance with City 0Edinance No.101~ within the next l~ days. Notice was served ~anuary 19th. To all business places and residents on 0cern Avenue requesting parking of cars in rear of buildings occupied. There b~ing no further business the meeting adjourned.
