She asked police pa~.ol of the area at that time olus permission to erect a platform. All agreed on this but stioulated the platform should not imoede vehicular traffic on Ocean Avenue. Oliver Falacinelli appeared asking reduction for his occuoat- ional license exolaining he made less than most on his tractor jobs which were "mainly for friends". After explaining the cost of license is predicated uoon one's desire to solicit this wor~, rather than upon the eventual earnings~ this matter was tabled. Mr. Falacinelli was told, however~ anyone doing any such work for hire must hold the proper license. Forney Horton submitted an offer of $20 or four loads of muck in exchange for the old Briggs and Stratt~n pump owned by the city but in disuse many years. Stuart appeared asking continuous policing of school buses as they deposit home-coming children on their various corners° He presented a letter from Foy W~rd which included this same request. Criticism of the current policing was implied in both requests. Police Chief A.C. Carver exnlained he escorts one of the three school buses whenever ooss~ble but reminded his audience this detail sometimes coincides with an emergency police call. He suggested the Boynton Police Force might get assistance on this from the State Patrol. Mayor Purinton suggested an additional policeman might be needed and Commissioner Woolbright asked if a shifting of current scheduled time might provide a patrolman for this detail. Answering the second criticism in ~. Ward's letter that two of the current Commissioners are holding down Inspectors' jobs$ Commissioners Shook and Woolbright explained they serve completely without pay as Building and Electrical Inspectors, respeetively~ thus saving the tax payers' money. John McNames, City Auditor in charge of the city's books suggested the city use a calendar yea? rather than the, current~ fiscal year for zts books. He Said this coinciding of fiscal and calendar years might simplify some features of the Commission's work when starting a new calendar year. If adooted the slack would be t~men uo at this timer said Mr. McNames, by making the just-submitted reports (for the oast twelve months) cover a fourteen month oeriod or thru De~ember 31st. All agreed to get legal advice on this and, if approved, to adoot Mr. McNames'S suggestion. Mrs. Bertha Williams was appointed Deputy Clerk of the Election Board and M~s.
