BEACH, FLORIDA, HELD AT THE CITY HALL
ON THE 6TH OF FEBRUARY 1950
The City Council convened at the regular meeting at the
City Hall, at 7:30 P.M., February 6th, 1950

The meeting was called to order by the Mayor.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read by City Clerk
Dorothy V. Williams and approved (after one slight correction)
on motion of Mr. Hood, seconded by Mr. Province.

A complaint from ~_dam C. McLeauwho thought his tax bill
too high was tabled until this may be checked properly.
A letter was read from the League of Municipalities inviting
the Commissioners to a meeting February 9th at Palm Beach Golf
Club.
A.D. Jttrney, former operator of the Cities Service gas station
asked a refund on his 1959 license to oD,rate. The Commission
decided against this and a letter was so directed.
Mayor Purinton read a request from the Mayor of Manalapan
for complete fire protection for his town. Since all agreed the
Boyhton Fire Department has neither the men or material for this
coverage, a letter to this effect was voted.
The eligibility of the F.E.C. Railway for the three percent
rebate on its tax bill was discussed and denied since they have
let the bill lapse. A letter was voted to F.E.C. explaining this
and remihding them they can, still, get one percent discount by
paying the bill in February.
Two aoplications for Building Inspector for the City of
Boynton Beach were read. One was from R.G. Qreenwood and one
from H. Bert Traylor who was present and had an inter,iow directly
after the meeting, with Commissioners Merkel and Shook who had
been appointed a committee of two by Mayor Purinton.
Commissioner Shook moved and Commissioner Hood seconded
approval of the new Municipal ~et Lighting agreement submitted
by the Florida Power & Light Company.
On motion of Commissioner Hood, seconded by Commissioner.
Province it was voted to reimburse Commissioner Shook for a bzll
he had paid to Rink,r-Hanson for materials used for ~le/~

A request for valuation of City owned property in Ridgewood
resulted in the motion being made by Commissioner Hood, seconded
by Commissioner Province and carried thatl the City sell~

The City Clerk was instructed to have a new Employees
Blanket Honesty Bond issued by V.G. Weaver~ Agt.
City Attorney Griffith was given the right-of-way Deed
drawn by Palm Beach County for the Boynton Beach Delray Reach
School Read for his aoproval. Commissioner Hood made the motion
secondedlby Commissioner Province and carried that the Mayor and
City Clerk execute the approved Deed giving the needed City
property to Palm Beach County.
L.R. Hartley, protested his tax bill on the grounds his
house is not, yet, completed. It was decided he must pay this
bill thisyear th~n straighten it out before next year - meantime
applying for Homestead Exemption.
CommiSsioner Hood reported upon a house condemned last year
but Attorney ~riffith was empowered to write
a letter to the owner, Harry Geller.
Woltce Chief Carver asked for two special policemen to
serve-lwithoUt pay. They are John Bell and Billie Dean Bell.
He asked~they be allowed to r~de with the patrolman on duty,
carry wear the badge of office. This was approved
aft Hood and Commissioner Province moved and
seconded the motion.
Mayor Purin~on recommended the Water Department be given
its own stea~ hose. This would be 300 feet and cost approximately
$300. Commissioner Merkel moved and Commissioner Province seconded
the motioh.
Marvin Harris asked if Boynton property owners might under-
write their own roads in their own localities. City Attorney
Griffith was asked to look into the deal of financing and repair-
ing streets by special assessments against specific property
owners served by the roads. This was on motion of Commissioner
Merkel, seconded by Commissioner Shook.
Upon motion of Mr. Hood~ seconded by Mr. Shook and carried
the salary~f City Clerk D.V. Williams was raised to $275.00
per month, retroactive to November l, 1959.
