Minutes 03-20-50MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH~ FLORIDA~ HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON THE 20TH OF MARCH 1950 The City Council convened Hall, at 7:30 P;M., March 20th, Councilmen Present: at the regular meeting at the City 19~0. Mr. F.L. Purinton Mr. A.E. Shook Mr. C.H. Hood Mr. Clifford Province. Commissioner Merkel's absence was due to an emergency trio to ~exas. The meeting was calied to order by the Mayor. Minutes of the latest meeting~ read by City Clerk Dorothy Williams were accepted on motion of Commissioner Hood seconded by Commissioner Province. Bids on the new hose for the water department were turned over to Mr. Raulerson for decision. Sea!e~ bids for the police car generators revealed the bid of Riggs' Auto in West Palm to be $152.00 for the Pontiac and -for the Ford. United Auto's bid was $15!.70 for the Pontiac and $145.16 for the Ford. The 1~¢ difference won the job for United Auto. The motion on this was by Commissioners Province and Hood. Mayor Purinton issued a proclamation ~that the 17th Decennial Census of the United States will be conducted in Boynton starting A~ril l, 1950. Mayor Purinton introduced C.W. Proofing Corporation of Belleville~ maintenance of the water tower. Sullivan of the E!ectro Rust- N.J., who s~oke on oreventstive Mr. Sullivan's final estimate on the Boynton job was $1,395.00 minus $25.00 if service cable is utilized in place for conduit. After thoughtful and realistic consideration of the cause and effect of oitting, corrosion, etc., Commissioner Shook moved Commissioner Province seconded to okay the job. Mr Sullivan said work would start within 30 to 60 days. At the suggestion of the Mayor the matter was~ first~ out into the hands of City Attorney Robert Griffith who went over the contract with Mr. Sullivan~ then reported back to the Commissioners who okayed it. City Attorney Griffith was instructed by the Commission to give notice to Bond Cleaners (Federal Highway~ Boynton Beach ) to fix the hazards currently present in his shop - or close uo. The previous letter sent by the Electrical Inspector has evoked no response from Gall Schamback, owner of Bond Cleaners. The Commission acceoted dedication of a Cherry Hill lot for municioal use. Mayor Purinton asked an opinion on the olan of paying cash for the newly purchased roller and grader rather-than financing it and - 3 - paying carrying charges. It was decided to pay cash. The Mayor reminded his audience the January cigarette tax would helo defray this bill. Another project tabled for decision later was that of building a shed (a roof and three sides) to house the City's equipment. A letter was suggested to Albert Coleman telling him his taxes are not out of line and advising him to get Homestead Exemption when his taxes will be aoproximately ~hird less. O.J. Wooden of South Feder~ Highway presented a petition of orotest against the dogs maintained by Allen E. King~ a neighbor. The signors~ said Mr. Wooden~ represent about $150,000 in Boynton property. Mr. Wooden~ then signed an affidavit for M~. King to appear in Court and tell his story. ~on query from the Commissioners Police Chief Carver reported the occupational licenses are "coming in well".
