The City Council convened at the regular meeting at the City Hall,
at ~

The meeting was called to order by the Mayor.
Minutes of the May 1st meeting were read by City Clerk D.V.Williams
and accepted on mot%on of Mr. Hood seconded by Mr. Shook. The City Clerk
then read the minutes of the soecial meeting of May 5th. Acceptance on
these was tabled pending a Joi4t meeting of the Commission and the
Zoning Board.

Mr. Hood moved and Mr. Province seconded a motion authorizing the
payment of $3,160 to Chase National Bank for Bond nayment and interest
due June 1st. '
Two letters were read from Alexander Stuart of Cornell Drive.
One asked his road be fixed by the Public Works men (now repairing
Boynton roads). The other asked a 20-25 mile sneed sign be placed
on Cornell Drive to protect children of that neighborhood. Chief of
Police Carver suggested "Caution, Children at Play, signs would be
more efficacious for streets such as Mr. Stuart described. The Com-
mission delegated him to order some. Mr. Province offered to soray
this legend on signs, oroviding some one else could make the stencil.
This, he felt, sould e~fect-a big saving to the city and make a more
effective sign.
Mr. Province was appointed a committee of one to get bids on 50
metal folding chairs for use in meetings at City Hall and Fire House.
On motion ofMr. Shook, seconded by Mr.

the Town of Gulf Stream
Mr. Hood reported on abortive efforts to get a brush pump for the
fire wagon for the price Boynton can pay. He says he, still, hopes
to locate a surplus one for sale and to that end has all contacts work-
ing on this project.
Mr. Merkel reported on the meeting he and Mayor Purinton attended
with the County Commission, this afternoon. Inlet drainage and beach erosior
was the topic of the meeting and out of the discussion (said Merkel) came
assurance Boynton Beach t~*l~ will be dredged. The South Lake Worth Inlet
Commission has, already, approached the County Commission for help in this
job. Eventually, said Merkel, the County Commission hopes to have equip-
ment which will be kent in constant circulation cleaning Boynton~ Jupiter
and Boca Raton Inlets~
Judge Ralnh Chapman was granted a month's leave of absence, starting
Juen 20th, to attend the Michigan Police Chiefs' 25 annual meeting at
Bar Harbor, Mich. Judge Chapman is former president of the group and is
to be one of those honored at this Silver Anniversary.
William Lord, local attorney~ was appointed as Police Court Judge
for the duration of Judge ChaPman's absence.
Jack Talbot, who wants to make an Indian Village as an added attraction
to Rainbow Gard~us appeared for final decision of the Commission on per-
mission to house two families of Indians on the Garden premises. Mayor
Purinton explained the Commission must abide by the snecifie allocations
of the Zoning Board. This, he reminded ~albot, rules out Indian ehickees
or thatched huts.

Roy Stafford, local painter, asked how he might have parking (or
loading) space at his curb on his frequent trips home for materials of
his trade. Attorney Griffith advised cutting a driveMay is the best
solution. Police Chief Carver offered to investigate and see what
might be doneI
Mayor Purinton issued the following proclamation:
I, F.L. Wurinton, Mayor of the City of Boynton Beach do hereby
proclaim, that July Sth, 1950 be known as "Homecoming Day" commemorating
the ~Oth anniversary of the incorporation of the City.
May a portion of the day be spent honoring the memory of our earl-
iest City Officials and their surviving widows. Let the remainder of the
day be one of Great C~lebration, fellowship of one another in clean sport
games, partaking of the Chicken Bar-B-Quo. Enjoy the Gala Aerial Dis~y
of Fire Works and particioate in the Dance to be held at the American
Legion Home.
Mayor
Commissioner Merkel suggested time, talents and tempers might be
saved if anyone desiring to start a new venture in Boynt~n submit the
blue print to the Zoning Board who will pass on or reject it before
passing it along. This, argued Merkel will save the city and the
citizena involved, many headaches.
Mayor Purinton reminded his audience Ordinance #17~ requires the
submission of plans, materials etc., in detail before a building is
approved.
Upon motion of Mr. Hood seconded by Mr. Shook the prospective builder
will, also, submit his plot-plan.
Mr. Hood made a motion seconded by Mr. Shook and nassed unaminously
that City ~ttorney~ Robert Griffith write Moseley Investment Co. request-
ing a complete set of plans and elevation, including a plot plan of the
nrooerty in Robert's Addition at N.W. Corner of intersection of Lake Ave
and Federal Highway. Mr. Shook offered to see Mr. Moseley before the
letter be written.
Second readings were given on thzee new ordinances. These were
Ordinances #217~ 218 & 219. All were passed by one motion made by Mr.
Province seconded by Mr. Hood. ·
Upon request from Winston McGregor to clear Ylang St.
width of street right-of-way, the property owners will be
back any barriers now existing, to t~eir own lot lines.
