R92-182RESOLUTION R92 -/~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, STRONGLY URGING LEGISLATORS TO INCREASE THE DISTANCE REQUIREMENT FOR PARKS AND RECREATION FACILITIES AND PUBLIC HOUSING IN THE DRUG FREE SCHOOL ZONES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Boynton Beach to strongly urge Legislators to increase the distance requirement from'20~' ~ 1,000' f0r parks and recreation facilities and public housihg in the drug free school zones,~ and the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, feels increasing the~distance for parks and ~cilities and public housing in the drug free ~chooi Zones would provide another tool in combating criminal lem~nt~ in ~he Cit~. NOW, TH~REFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY oF BOYNTONiBEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: Section. 1. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida strongly urges our Legislators to increase the distance requirement from 200' to 1,000' for parks and recreation f~cilities and public housing in the drug free school zone. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida hereby directs the City Clerk to provide copies of this Resolution, upon passage, to the Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation, the Florida League of Cities, and the Municipal League. Section 3. That copies of this Resolution will be provided to the Florida League of Cities Intergovernmental Relations Committee and the Palm Beach County Police Chief's Association, by Vice Mayor Matson and Police Chief Hillery, respectively. Section 4. This Resolution will become effective immediately upon passage. PASSED AND ADOPTED this ~_ day of October, 1992.
