A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
URGING THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION TO
REQUIRE SOUTHERN BELL TO ADOPT A UNIFIED
TELEPHONE EXCHANGE CLASSIFICATION
ENCOMPASSING ALL AREAS WITHIN THE
MUNICIPAL BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF
BOYNTON BEACH; AUTHORIZING THE VICE
MAYOR TO ADVOCATE THIS REQUEST WITH THE
PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION; AUTHORIZING
AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO FORWARD
COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE
APPROPRIATE LEGISLATIVE AGENCIES; Al%~
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach is currently served by
~umerous telephone exchanges, creating a disparity in service to
~he citizens of Boynton Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach
]as determined that it is in the best interests of the citizens
~nd residents of the City to urge the Public Service Commission
~o require Southern Bell to adopt a unified telephone exchange
:lassification encompassing all areas within the municipal
)oundaries of the City of Boynton Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach, Florida does hereby
authorize Vice Mayor Lynne Matson's appearance before the Public
~ervice Commission on behalf of the residents to advocate
anified telephone exchange classification for all of the City, so
~hat all citizens are subject to the same long distance charges
~nd have accessibility to the same service areas.
NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT. RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Boynton
~each urges the Public Service Commission to exercise its power
to require Southern Bell to consolidate all areas of the City of
Boynton Beach under one unified telephone exchange
~lass/fication.
Section 2. The City Commission authorizes Vice Mayor
~nne Matson to undertake a program of advocacy to effectuate the
intent of this Resolution.
Section 3. Authorizing the City Clerk to forward a copy
)f this Resolution to the appropriate Legislative agencies.
Section 4.
