O73-17 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BE~C~{, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR THE MAIb~TENANCE OF ORDER ASID DECORUM AT ~ITY COUNCIL MEETINGS; PROVIDING FOR AUTHORITY TO CODIFM, SAVINGS CLAUSE, REPEALING PROVISIONS, AN EFFECTIVE DATE AND FOR 0TPtER PURPOSES. W~REAS,,. the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach, Florid~ deems it necessary ~nd advisable to provide for rules of govern- ment for the purpese of maintaining order and decorum at the regular and special meetings, and to provide for a sergeant-at- arms for such purposes; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACh, FLORIDA: section 1: The Chief of Police or such member or members of the police department as he may designate shall be sergeant-at- arms at the regular and special meetings of the City Council. 5e or they shall carry out orders and instructions given by the pres,iding officer or by a majority of the City Council present for the purpose of maintaining order and decorum at the City Council meetings. While the City Council meeting is in session, the members of the public shall not, by conversation or otherwise, delay or interrupt the proceedings nor the peace of the meeting and shall obey all orders of the City Council or its presiding officer, except as otherwise herein provided. The presiding officer shall preserve strict order and decorum at all meetings. Section 2: Authority to Codify: Specific authority is hereby granted to codify and incorporate this Ordinance in the City's existing Code. S~ction 3: Separability: Each of the provisions of this Ordinance are separable, including word, clause, phrase or sentence, and if any portion thereof shall be declared invalid, the remaining portion shall not he affected but shall remain in full force and effect. Section 4: Repealinq Provisions:~ All ordinances os parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 5: An Effective 'Date: This Ordinance shall become effective in the manner and at the time provided in the -2- Cha~ter'and Ordinances of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida.
