R01-292 RESOLUTION R01- g.°lo~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT BETVVEEN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF PALM BEACH COUNTY AND THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, PROVIDING FOR ONE (1) LAW .ENFORCEMENT OFFICER TO BE ASSIGNED TO THE PALM BEACH COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR TRAINING AND TO & TEACH TH.E,, AGGRESSORS, VICTIMS BYSTANDERS COURSE AT CONGBESS. MIDDLE SCHOOL; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREASi the School District has instituted the Aggressors, Victims & Bystanders curriculum in the 6th grade in District middle schools; and WHEREAS, this curriculum is a violence prevention curriculum [hat is research based, has an "A" rating from the U.S. Department of Education, and teaches students positive self-regulatory behavior skills; and WHEREAS, the District wishes to expand this curriculum to the 7th and 8th grads, and has received federal funding to cover the cost of this expansion; and; WHEREAS, the District and the City of Boynton Beach will enter into a partnership to provide this curriculum to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students; NOW, THEREFORE, COMMISSION OF THE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1. This Commission does hereby authorize and direct the Mayor and City Clerk to execute an Agreement between the School District of Palm Beach County, and the City of Boynton Beach, setting forth the terms, conditions and obligations of each of the parties, ~roviding for one law enforcement officer to be assigned to the Palm Beach County School District Police Department for training in and for the purpose of teaching, the "Aggressors, victims & Bystanders" course at Congress Middle School. Section2 That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage. PASSED AND ADOPTED this (o day of November, 2001. ATTEST: Commissioner Commissioner
