A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TQ SUBMIT TO PALM BEACH COUNTY
HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
PROJECT APPLICATIONS FOR USE OF
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
FUNDING FOR PROGRAM YEAR 1992/93; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS; Palm Beach County Housing
Development is proceeding with its planning
Community Development Block Grant Program
which commences on October 1, 1992; and
and Community

year 1992/93,
WHEREAS, as a part of this process, Palm Beach County
Housing and Community Development has invited
municipalities and non-profit organizations to submit
proposals to their office by Monday, February 3, 1992 by
5:00 P.M.; and '
WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach has prepared three
(3) proposal applications which are designed to allow for
expenditures to be made in areas where principal benefit to
low and moderate income people could be achieved. The
proposals are as follows:
1. N.E. llth Avenue N.E. 13th Avenue Capita]
.~mprovements Project.
An estimated $330,000 for Phase Il of a project to
construct the necessary sidewalks, curbs, swale areas,
road improvements, drainage, row acquisition,
landscaping and relocation assistance. Total project
cost is estimated at $1,329,220 to be completed in
four (4) phases. Phase I in the amount of $425,000
was funded in fiscal year 91/92.
2. Sara Sims Park Expansion
An estimated $51,000+ to provide two lighted outdoor
racquet ball courts and playground equipment.
3. 13th Avenue Recreation/Park Development
An estimated $225~000 for the purchase of land, as
well as site development, recreation and parking for
3.2 acres of vacant land at the eastern end of N.E.
13th Avenue, including the F.E.C. parcel.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized
and ~irected to submit to Palm Beach County Housing &
Community Development project applications for use of
Community Development Block grant funding for program year
1992/93.
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon passage.
