O71-36ORDINANCE NO. 71 -~) AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, CREATING THE MUNICIPAL NON- CLASSIFIED POSITION OF CITY PLANNER, SETTING FORTH THE DUT~ ES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF SAID OFF%CE, PROVIDING FURT HER FOR AUTHORITY TO CO]~IFY, SAVINGS CLAUSE, REPEALI1NG PROVISIONS, AN EFFECTIVE DATE AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYbtTON BEACH, FLORIDA: Seciion h That pursuanz to the provisions of Section 23 of the Charter of the City of Boynton ]Beach, Florida, there is hereby created the unclassified position of City Planner, said position to be filled by appointment by the City Council, said officer to serve at the pleasure of the City Council. The duties and responsibilities of said office shall be as follows: (a) To formulate and carry out ~echnicat details and phases of the general plan for the future comprehensive development of the City. This shall include supervising and directly pariicipating in the performance of specialized planning activities and re- search essential to the preparation of the general plan. Incumbent shall be responsible for the coordination and suc- cessful execution of studies and programs. Work shah be performed under general direction of the City Manager. (b)To coordinate the above plans with planning and zoning board as appropriate. (c) To serve as principal agent of the City in all contracted plan- ning activities. This shall include preparation of the scope of work of each contract, as well as supervision of progress once contract is consummated. (d) To act as technical advisor to Department Heads and similar officials on all planning matters. (e) To oerforra related work as required or directed by City Manager or City Council. Compensation for the office of the City Planner shall be established from time to time by the City Council by Resolution. Seclion 2: Specific authority is hereby granted to codify and incor- porate this @rdinance in the City's existing Code. Section 3: Separability: Each of the provisions of this Ordinance are separable, including word, clause, phrase, or sentence, and if any portions thereof shall be declared invalid, the remaining portion shall not be affected, but shall remair~ in full force and effect. Section 4: Repealing Provisions: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 5: Effective Date: This Ordinance shall become effective in 'the manner and at the time provided in the Charter and Ordinances of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida.
