AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH,
FLORIDA, AMENDING pROVISIONS OF sECTION 5-2
OF ORDINANCE 67-25 OF THE '~I~)INANCES OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA PERTAINING
TO TI~ MUNICIPAL BUILDING CODE, PROVIDING
FURTHER FOR AUTHORITY TO CODIFY, REPEALING
PROVISIONS, A SAVINGS CLAUSE, AN EFFECTIVE
DATE AND FOR OTHER pURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Seclion 1: That the proposed amendments to Section 5-2 of the
;7-25 of the existing Building Code of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, more
)articularly set forth in the Municipal Building Board recommendations attache
~reto and hereby made a part hereof, are hereby enacted and adopted.
~ ,Section 2: Separability: Each of the provisions of this Ordinance are
separable, including word, clause, phrase or sentence, and if any portion here
of shall be declared invalid, the remaining portion shall not be affected but
Lin in full force and effect.
Section 3: Authority to Codify: Specific authority is hereby granted to
:odify and incorporate this Ordinance ix the City's existing Code.
Section 4: Repealing Provisions: All ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 5: Effective Date: This Ordinance shall become effective in the
manner and at the time provided in the charter and ordinances of the City of
Boynton Beack, Florida.

(a) '~General Contractors" are those whose services are unlimgted about the ~ype
~of work which they may contract for or bid on.
(b) '~Building Contractors:' are ~hose whose services are limited to construction
of con~.erciai buildJ_ngs-mhd single or multiole ~zelling residential bui!dings~
neither to exceed three stories in height~ ~m_d accessory use structures in cor_nection
therewith. Buildir~g Contractors may remodel, repair or i~rove mqy size building or
structure so long as such services do not affect the structural members of such
building or stractureo
(c) "Residential Building Contractors: a~e those whose semzices are limited
to construction, remode!ing~ repair~ or improvement of one, r~o or three fmmily
mnit residences~ not exceeding two stories in height and accessory use structures
in co~mection ~herewith.
License fees for t~_e ~ove -three catagories shall remain as presently constituted for
"General Contractors~'.
~ealifications for these ~hree catagories shall be possession of a valid
Certificate of Competency from Palm Beadn Co~ntybearing the 1J~el ~LM!inite~
sm_d HoHo Block Exm~J~nation, a valid certification from the Florida Construction
Indvstry Licensing Board or the Building Board of this City may approve mn
~op!ication~ if thc majority of ~e,Board concur on sudq ~pproval~ providing ~%e
~oplicable provisions of al! other ordinances are men. No one possessing a valid
license in this City at tb~_e time of passage of this Ordir_ance shall have their
catagories sffected by ~ne provisio~herein.

electrical work, miess they hold a currently valid license in such trade.
106.3 - Time Limitation°

Charge for this renewal shall:be one-half of tl~_e total original permgt fee and
only one such renewal shall be allowed. Such renewal shall be for the ss~e time

days of the empiration of the original pe~it.
