R91-146RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY CO~94ISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A CERTAIN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH AND THE DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PALM BEACH COMMUNITY COLLEGE, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FOR THE EDUCATION AND TRAINING OF STUDENTS IN THE PARAMEDIC PROGRAM; A COPY OF SAID AGREEMENT BEING ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach and the District $oard of Trustees of the Palm Beach Community College are desirous of entering into a contractual arrangement providing for the education and training of students in the Paramedic Program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION DF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA THAT: Section 1. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby ~uthor±zed and directed to execute a certain Agreement oetween the City of Boynton Beach, Florida and The District Board of Trustees of the Palm Beach Community College, for ~he purpose of providing for the education and training of ~tudents in the Paramedic Program, said Agreement being ~ttached hereto as Exhibit "A". Section 2. This Resolution immediately upon passage. shall take PASSED $2~D ADOPTED this J day of September, effect 1991, CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA ATTEST: (Corlm3rate Seal ) PBCC :AGR 8/~27/91 M~yor ~~;i~e~ Mayor C6mm%is s loner THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into by and between the DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PALM BEACH COMMUNITY COLLEGE, a public corporation under the laws of the State of Florida, hereinafter referred to as "THE BOARD" and CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, 150_E, BOYNTON BE~CH BLVD., BOYNTON BEACE, FL 33435, hereinafter referred to as "THE CITY" W I T N E S S E TH: WHEREAS, the parties hereto desire to enter into a contractual arrangement providing for the education and training of students the Paramedic Program, and NOW, THEREFORE, it is a~reed between the parties hereto as follows: 1. THE BOARD, through it's facilities at the Palm Beach Community College, has undertaken to educate and train students in the Paramedic Program. 2. THE CITY agrees not to begin any training programs in the Paramedic field, conducted by the College while this agreement is in effect, without the prior consent of THE BOARD. 3. The program shall be in the Allied Health/Nursing Div. 4. The control of the program shal! reside in the President of the Palm Beach Community College with the assistance of the Chairperson of the Allied Health/Nursing Division. There shall be established an Advisory Committee who will counsel the said President and Division Chairperson responsible for the program. 5. This agreement shall continue for one (1) year from the date hereof unless sooner terminated as hereinafter provided and may be renewed at the end of one (1) year by the mutual consent of the parties hereto. In the event that either party desires to terminate the arrangement Prior to the one (1) year period , notice is to be given by the party desiring to terminate to the other party in writing, but such termination shall be effected until such time as all then enrolled students have had an opportunity to complete their prescribed program, although new enrollees shall no5 be accepted after receipt of notice of termination. FURTHER, THE BOARD agrees to: 1. Accep~ eligible students in the program as regular enrollees o{ the Palm Beach Community College, subject to the rules and regulations of_the College. 2. Select a qualified faculty. 3. Provide an approved course of study. 4. Consult with the designated person of THE CITY in selection clinical experiences for the students of the program. A list of students and their dates of attendance will be provided to THE CITY by the College. 5. Provide supervision for students participating in clinical experiences at THE CITY. 6. Adhere to the P6'lic~.~nd Procedures established by THE CITY. this 7. Cooperate with THE CITY staff in all matters ~ertaining to program. FURTHER, THE CITY agrees to: 1. Provide necessary facilities for clinical experience~ for proper Paramedic instruction. 2. Cooperate in the assignment of students in THE CITY, such assignments to be made under the supervision of the Col-lege faculty. 3. Make possible liaison between the administrator and the Chairperson of Allied Health/Nursing Division. 4. Provide suitable area at clinical sites for conferences and group training programs for the students. 5. Provide all health examinations and immunizations required by THE CITY other than the basic physical examination and initial immunizations required of each student upon enrollment. 6. Cooperate in obtaining guest lecturers from the staff of THE CITY on request of the Allied Health/Nursing Division. to this 8.
