A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ESTABLISH A TASK FORCE ON THE ELDERLY;
FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
IMPLEMENT A CITY SPONSORED CONFERENCE ON
THE ELDERLY WITH THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF
FORMULATION OF A PERMANENT CITY ADVISORY
BOARD ON THE ELDERLY; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City
ommission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida that a
arge part of the City's population is made up of elderly
~itizens; and
WHEREAS, this City is concerned as to whether the needs
)f the elderly are being adequately addressed; and
WHEREAS, the City believes there is a dramatic need
Tithin the City to increase input into decisions which
~ffect our elderly citizens;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED
)F THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA;
SECTION 1: The City Manager is hereby directed to
teach out.into the community to obtain volunteers for the
iormation of a Task Force on the Elderly in Boynton Beach,
tnd make recommendations for future Commission policies.
~he City Commission is also encouraged to provide names to
:he City Manager of those citizens of Boynton Beach who are
.nterested in participation in said task force.
SECTION 2: The City Manager is further directed to
;ponsor a conference on the elderly which will include
.nvited experts to serve as a panel, at a public meeting,
ooth to broaden our awareness and expand our information on
5he needs of the elderly within the City of Boynton Beach.
Fhis City sponsored conference shall be conducted as soon as
3ossible following the adoption of this Resolution.
BY THE CITY CO~4ISSION
SECTION 3: That subsequent to the formulation of
~his task force, and City sponsored conference, that the
~ity form a permanent Advisory Board on the Elderly, in an
Lttempt to adequately address the needs of an important
~egment of this City's citizenry.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective
~pon passage.
