A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
THANKING ~ND COMMENDING GOVERNOR LAWTON
CHILES FOR HIS COURAGE IN VETOING SENATE
BILL 2000 CONCERNING IMPLEMENTING
UNFUNDED MANDATES.
WHERF~AS, Senate Bill 2000 was by the
~lorida Legislature and brought Lawton
lhiles; and
WHERF~qS, the House and Senate Leadership were strongly
behind the implementation of this Bill, which was written by
legislative staff; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 2000, which attempted to require
~uni¢ipalities to implement unfunded mandates, was vetoed by
;overnor Lawton Chiles on May 28, 1991.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TH~ CITY COMMISSION
)F ~HE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT.
Section 1. The members of the City Commission of
:he City Of Boynton Beach, Florida wish to thank and commend
~overnor Lawton Chiles for his courage in vetoing Senate
~ill 2000, and for recognizing the freedom of choice which
%mendment No. 3 affords to all municipalities with regard to
[nfunded mandates.
Section 2. The City Clerk of the City of Boynton
~each is hereby directed to forward a copy of the Resolution
:o Governor Lawton Chiles, Palm Beach County Board of
ommissioners, and the Palm Beach County Municipal League.
