Scott Miller, City Manager Craig Service Agreement Renewal - Motorola (Supplement) May 2, 1991 This memorandum is a supplement to one dated April 19, 1991, same subject. The City has an 800 MHz trunked radio system consisting of approximately 425 mobile and portable radios, a single transmitter site [radio tower), and a primary control point (Communications Center). Equipment was obtained approximately four years ago (June, 1987) at a cost of $1.3 million. Annual service contracts are in place for the maintenance of the system components. The main agreement covers transmitters, controllers, radio consoles, control stations, portables, mobiles, modems, battery chargers, and related back bone equipment at a cost of approximately $6,500/month. The microwave system linking City Hall to the tower site is covered under a separate $400/month contract. The third element, computer circuit boards which control the trunking have been costing $1,020/month. This third agreement is due for renewal at new (less costly) rates. The new rate quoted is $509/month, a 50% reduction. I recommend renewal of the agreement at the new rate. RMc/db
