A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
URGING THE PALM BEACH COUNTY COMMISSION
AND THE PALM BEACH COUNTY BEACHES AND
SHORES COUNCIL TO INCLUDE IN THE SAND
STUDY, AS WELL AS THE EVENTUAL DESIGN
AND BEACH RESTORATION PROJECT, THE
ENTIRE LENGTH OF BOYNTON BEACH'S PUBLIC
BEACH, AN AREA OF APPROXIMATELY 960
LINEAR FEET, AND DIRECTING THE CITY
CLERK TO FORWARD COPIES OF THIS
RESOLUTION TO THE PALM BEACH COUNTY
COMMISSION AND THE PALM BEACH COUNTY
BEACHES AND SHORES COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, County Commission through the
Department of Resources is currently engaged
in a sand study regarding the South Lake Worth Inlet and the

beach area south of the inlet, which terminates at
approximately the mid-point of Boynton Beach's Ocean Front
Park, located in Ocean Ridge; and
WHEREAS, Ocean Front Park has experienced severe
~rosion problems destroying portions of the dune area; and
WHEREAS, Ocean Front Park has experienced a continual
Loss of sand narrowing the beach area available for
recreation use, as well as creating severe slopes, making
access to the beach difficult; and
WHEREAS, Ocean Front Park is intensively used for
public recreation with visitations by residents and tourists
exceeding one-half million annually; and
WHEREAS, Ocean Front Park is a turtle nesting area,
with Boynton Beach and Ocean Ridge jointly conducting a
marking and relocation program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of
Boynton Beach hereby urges the Palm Beach County Commission
and the Palm Beach County Beaches and Shores Council to
include in the study, as well as the eventual design and
beach restoration project, the entire length of Boynton
Beach's public beachi an area of approximately 960 linear
feet.
Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to
forward a copy of this Resolution to the Palm Beach County
Commission and the Palm Beach County Beaches and Shores
2ouncil.
