90-PPPRESOLUTION NO. 90- ~~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA ADOPTING THE POSITION OF ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR FOR INSPECTION & ENGINEERING, AND AMENDING THE 89./90 PAY PLAN TO INCLUDE THIS POSITION. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA: That the Municipal Employee's Pay Plan B be amended to include the position of ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR FOR INSPECTION AND .ENGINEERING at Pay Grade 34. That the job description for ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR FOR INSPECTION AND ENGINEERING attached hereto and made a part of this resolution is hereby adopted. SEAL) ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR FOR INSPECTION & ENGINEERING NATURE OF WORK This is a responsible administrative position, involving supervising the coordination of the office, engineering and field inspections. Duties involve the coordination of the activities of subordinate clerical employees and inspectors. Employee in this class applies professional knowledge and skills to the review and coordinatiOn of inspectors between the City's consultant engineers and staff. Work is carried on with a wide latitude for the use of independent judgment in the selection of work methods and procedures under the general supervision of the City Manager or his designee. ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS (NOTE: These examples are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed in this class. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from this position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the department's function.) Assists consulting engineers in plan reviews for subdivisions and plats including improvements. Supervising of the Engineering Division personnel including discipline, evaluation and recommendation for hiring. Performs and supervises studies, reports, cost analysis and annual budget. Plans scheduling and coordinating of the Engineering Division's activities. Records coordination of bonding securities for projects. Performs related work as required. KNOWLEDGE~ ABILITIES AND SKILLS Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering (math, blueprints etc.) as applicable to the development and construction of projects. Ability to plan, layout, direct and review the work of technical and cleri- cal staff. Ability to express self clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Considerable knowledge of the modern techniques, methods and procedures of personnel, finance and general office administration and the ability to apply them. Extensive knowledge of street and transmission line construction practices. ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR FOR INSPECTION AND ENGINEERING PAGE 2 KNOWLEDGE~ ABILITIES AND SKILLS Ability to plan, direct, supervise, coordinate, organize and inspect engi- neering programs and activies between the contractor, consulting engineers and City. Knowledge of the City's codes and ordinances. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relations with subordi- nates, supervisors and the general public. QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from a two (2) year college with a major in Civil Engineering plus four (4) years proven experience in the engineering field, or a high school diploma from an accredited school with six (6) years experience in the engineer- ing field in charge of a construction project or projects, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
