RESOLUTION NO. ~RR
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
ADOPTING A SANITATION RATE SCHEDULE.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 86-36 has been adopted deleting
from the Boynton Beach Code of Ordinances Chapter 10, "Garbage, Trash
and Offensive Conditions", Article II, "Refuse, Garbage and Trash",
Section 10-29, "Rates and Charges for City Service" and further pro-
viding for a new Section 10-29 "Rates and Charges for City Service"
by providing that such rates and charges shall be adopted by
Resolution of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, this resolution will amend and supercede Resolution
No. 88-UUU adopted October 18, 1988.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission the
City of Boynton Beach, Florida:
Rates and Charges for City Service.
The following rates and charges shall be made for refuse
collection service provided by the City.
A. Commercial Containerized, excluding Residential Units:
(1) Monthly commercial charges shall consist of a
total of the following six items:
(a) Container rental charge - A monthly charge
to cover the actual cost of the container
(amortized over five (5) years) as annually
calculated and certified by the City
Council. The certified container rental
charge will be as follows:
2 cu yd container - $3.95 per month
3 cu yd container - $4.85 per month
4 cu yd container - $5.43 per month
6 cu yd container - $7.37 per month
8 cu yd container - $8.25 per month
(b) Disposal charge - A fixed charge per cubic
yard as charged by the Palm Beach County
Solid Waste Authority for disposal of waste
at the landfill as annually calculated and
certified by the City Council. The amount
certified as the disposal charge for 1989/90
is forty six dollars and fifty cents ($46.50)
per ton.

(c) Operating charge - A fixed charge per pick
up to cover the operating cost less disposal
cost. The operating charge for 1989/90
will be twenty-six dollars ($26.00) per
month per pick up.
(d) Capital equipment charge - A fixed charge
per pick up to cover total capital costs for
vehicles as annually calculated and cer-
tified by the City Council. The certified
capital equipment charge for 1989/90 will be
seven dollars and ninety-five cents ($7.95)
per month per pick up.
(e) Overhead charge - The monthly overhead
charge will be as follows:

A fixed charge of
three dollars(S3.00) per cubic yard per pick
up will be charged to meet the cost of closing
the City's landfill.
Partial monthly service will be charged on a pro-
rated basis, as appropriate, based on the guide-
lines in (1) above.
Removal charges for mechanically compressed
refuse in a dumpster shall be computed at three-
to-one (3:1) (containers furnished by owners).
Two (2) or more places of business establishments
using a single container shall share equally the
charges for the container per pick up as outlined
in (1) above. Any joint use generating two (2)
cubic yards or less per month shall be charged a
minimum of forty-five dollars ($45.00) per month
to be shared equally.

B. Non-Containerized Commercial Service:
(1) Refuse picked up from bins shall be charged at
twenty-four dollars ($24.00) per cubic yard
(non-compacted measure). Small businesses
generating one cubic yard a month or less shall
be charged at the rate of twenty-four dollars
($24.00) per month.
(2) Refuse picked up from residential type cans at
commercial establishments shall have their level
of service negotiated by the Public Works
Department with an opportunity to appeal the rate
to City Council.
C. Residential Rates (Non-containerized):
(1) Twelve dollars ($12.00) per month for single
family dwellings.
(2) Twelve dollars ($12.00) per month for each family
unit duplex or triplex.
(3) Twelve dollars (12.00) per month for each family
unit for apartments and condominiums.
(4) Trailer parks, twelve dollars ($12.00) per month
per trailer.
D. Residential Rates (Containerized):
(1) Eleven dollars and twenty five cents ($11.25) per
month for each family unit for apartments and
condominiums that are served by high volume
containers (containerized).
(2) Eleven dollars and twenty five cents ($11.25) per
trailer in tra~ler parks.
E. Special Pick Up Scheduled:
Special Pick Up will be scheduled by contacting the
Public Works Department.
F. Roll-off container collection will be charged $100.00
per transfer plus the actual cost of the landfill
charge. (Roll-off container will be supplied by user
of service).
G. All properties shall be assessed no less than the minimum
applicable rate schedule provided for in this section.

Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective on
January 1, 1990.
