89-ORESOLUTION NO. 89-0 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH REQUESTING ASSISTANCE FROM THE UNITED STATES POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT AND SOUTHERN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANy REGARDING SQUARING OFF OF CITY BOUNDARIES WITH REGARD TO POSTAL AND TELEPHONE SERVICE. WHEREAS, the municipal limits of the northern boundary of the City of Boynton Beach run generally along the southern boundary of Hypoluxo Road; and WHEREAS, certain areas lying within said municipal limits, to-wit, subdivision of Boynton Lakes, and various other isolated areas in the San Castle Subdivision, are ser- viced for postal purposes through the Lantana facility, rather than the Boynton Beach facility; and WHEREAS, said areas are serviced for telephone pur- poses from facilities lying north of said area, which result in residents located within the municipal limits of Boynton Beach having Lantana mailing addresses and Lake Worth phone service areas, all of which causes great con- fusion and inconvenience, and damage, to said residents of the City of Boynton Beach, basically predicated upon delay in delivery of mail, and excess cost of phone charges for calls made to the Delray Beach area. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commis- sion of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida: 1. That the Post Master General of the United States, and Southern Bell Telephone Company, are hereby respectfully requested to immediately investigate the above described situtation and to rectify same by rounding off subject boundaries of service in order to provide residents of the City of Boynton Beach with Boynton Beach postal ser- vice and Boynton Beach telephone service. This request is predicated on behalf of the 27,000 registered voters with the City of Boynton Beach, Florida. COpies of this Resolution shall be furnished by the City Clerk to George Bush, President of the United States; the United States Postmaster General; Senator Connie Mack; Senator Robert Graham; U. So Representative Harry Johnston; and Bill Burson of Southern Bell Telephone Company, with request for immediate reply to the City Manager of the City of Boynton Beach, with indication of disposition.
