The job description with the duties and
responsibilities of the position of Warehouse
Foreman is hereby adopted and made a part of the
City of Boynton Beach's pay plan at alpay grade of
Grade 26.

WAREHOUSE FOREMAN
NATURE OF WORE
This is responsible supervisory, semi-technical and
limited administrative .work managing the operation of a
moderate size city warehouse facility. An employee in this
position is responsible for the planning, organizing and
operational control of all personnel and functions related
to central stores. These functions include receiving,
warehousing, inventory control, distribution and other
related areas. Direct supervision is exercised over
warehouse personnel; supervision is received from the
department director or designee. An employee in
this position exercises considerable independent judgement
and initiative in :scheduling and performing job assignments.
Work is reviewed through observation, conferences, inventory
checks and review of records and reports.

Plans, organizes, coordinates and supervises the
operation of municipal warehouse and inventory control
functions.
Establishes and supervises the maintenance of all
accountable central warehouse records: ie.. perpetual
inventory records, inventory checks etc.
Uses data terminal, bar code reader and on-line
inventory control system to input stock level status.
Coordinates with purchasing personnel to assist in
determining restocking lead times, based on past issue
experience, known requirements, and emergency plans.
Supervises, trains, and assists subordinates engaged in
warehouse activities.
Plans and maintains efficient space utilization.
Evaluates, determines and implements security and
safety requirements for the municipal warehouse.

Assists in preparation of the annual operating budget.
Monitors and recommends expenditures in accordance with the
approved budget.

Prepares and submits reports orally and in writing.
Assists in the planning and execution of hurricane
preparedness.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE~ ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of a wide rang~ of commodities and equipment
frequently used in municipal warehouse operations.
Knowledge of modern methods, practices and procedures
employed in warehousing operations.
Knowledge of the principles of supervision, budgeting
accounting and administration. '
Knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate
safety procedures.
Ability to plan, schedule, direct and appraise the work
of subordinates in a manner conducive to high morale and
effective public service.
Ability to resolve problems within established policies
and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with employees, vendors~ departmental
officials and the general public.
Ability to operate computer, bar-code-reader and other
automated record systems equipment.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both
orally and in writing.
.QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from High School or equivalent, preferably
supplemented with college-level coursework in the area of
business administration or related field.
Minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible
experience in areas of warehousing and inventory control,
purchasing, materials management, warehousing and
computerized data systems, two (2) of which must have been
in a supervisory capacity; local government experience
preferred; or any equivalent combination of education
training and experience. '
Must posses a current valid Florida Driver's License.
