O67-18ORDINANCE NO. 67-18 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, ABOLISHING THE POSITION OF PLUMBING INSPECTOR BY AMENDING SECTIONS 22-3, 22-4 AND 22-5 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA. DE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1: Section 22-3 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 22-3. Board of plumbinq commissbners, created, composition7 alternate members. There shall be and is hereby created a board of plumbing commissioners who shall serve without compensation for terms of a year's duration or until their success- ors are appointed, which office shall be appointed at the meeting in January at which the mayor and other officers are appointed. The board of plumbing commissioners shall be composed of five members, one of which shall be the Building Official, a second member who shall be a master plumber, a third member who shall be a journeyman plumber, a fourth and fifth member who shall be laymen. These offices shall be appointed by city council. The city council may appoint two alternate members to said board of plumbing commissioners to serve in the event of the death, resignation, disqualification or other occurrence rendering any regular member unable to serve in any given situation. Said alternate members' terms shall be identical to the terms of the regularly appointed members of said board and they may be called upon to serve in either a temporary or permanent capacity. Said alternate members shall possess the classification qualifications required for regular members of said board, to-wit: be either -1- a master plumber, journeyman plumber or layman. Section 2: Section 22-4 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Boynton Be~h, Florida, is hsreby amended to read as follow~ Section 22-4. Plumbinq Inspector. The position of Plumbing Inspector of the City of Boynton Beach is hereby abolished and all of the duties and responsibilities heretofore performed by the Plumbing Inspector shall hereafter be performed by the Building Official of the City of Boynton Beach, or by his duly appointed deputies. From the date of the passage of this ordinance, wherever the term "Plumbing Inspector" appears in the Code of Ordinances, there shall be substituted therefore the words "Building Official." Section 3: Section 22'5 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, is hereby amended to read as followl Section 22-5. Same.- Duties. The duties of the Build- ing Official, in addition to his duties and responsibilities pro- vided for in other sections of this code, shall~be as follows: (1) The examination and approval or disapproval of plans and specifications of proposed plumbing work (2) The issuance of permits for plumbing work. (3) The collection of inspection fees. (4) The inspection of plumbing and drainage. (5) The conduct of tests of plumbing work. (6) The issuance of certificates of approval or re- jection on inspected jobs. (7) The arrest and prosecution of offenders. (8) Advisory service to the public in matters of plumbing.
