O67-17ORDINANCE NO . 6 7-17 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, ABOLISHING THE POSITION OF ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR BY AMENDING SECTIONS 9-2 AND 9-3 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORI DA. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1: Section 9-2 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 9-2. Electrical Inspector. The position of Electrical Inspector of the City of Boynton Beach, is hereby abolished and all of the duties and responsibilities heretofore performed by the Electrical Inspector shall hereafter be performed by the Building Official of the City of Boynton Beach, or by his duly appointed deputies. From the date of the passage of this~ ordinance, wherever the term "Electrical Inspector" appears in the Code of Ordinances, there shall be substituted therefore the words "Building Official." Section 2: Section 9-3 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 9-3. Same - Duties. The duties of the Build- ing Official, inaddition to his duties and responsibilities pro- vided for in other sections of this Code, shall be as follows: (a) To enforce the provisions of this chapter under the general supervision of the city manager and the city council. To receive applications, and grant permits thereon for the installation, or alteration or electrical equipment in accordance with the provisions of thi chapter. -1- (c) To make inspections of electrical iatallations as provided by this chapter and to issue a certificat~ ofapproval on wiring installations, apparatus, equipment, or light fixtures after installation thereof, pursuant to permit granted, provided the same comply with the rules and regulations of this and other ordinances of the City, the permits, and the current issue of the National Electrical Code. However, if defects, omissions or violations exist no certificate of approval will be issued until corrections have been made. (d) To keep complete records of all permits issued, inspections and reinspections made and other official work performed in accordance with the provisions of this chapter. .(e) To inspect any wiring or equipment conducting or using electric current for light, heat or power in the city, and if conductors and equipment are found to be unsafe to life or property, he shall notify the person, firm, or corporation owning or operating such wiring or equipment to correct the condition within a forty-eight (48) hour period or within such larger time limit as he shall specify.
